Aquaculture unit is one unit under Melaka Biotechnology Corporation. Aquaculture unit was established in 2009. To date, aquaculture unit has been equipped with basic facility of laboratory for doing research.

The On-going project and project that has completed

  1. Research project related to the production of formulated feed for red tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus and larvae of Giant Tiger prawn, Penaeus monodon.
  2. Research project on the broodstock maturity of mud crab, Scylla sp.
  3. Research project related to the production of live feed culture, Moina macrocopa

The Next Aim Project

Research project on microalgae species and its application to aquaculture and food industry.

Aquaculture Laboratory future planning

  • To do more applied research in aquaculture
  • To provide service include for water chemistry testing, fish diagnostic (parasitology and bacteriology), analysis for nutrition content for feed and fish.
  • To formulate fish feed for freshwater fish

The best thing that Aquaculture Laboratory can offer to the public for this time being are:

  • Consultancy on aquaculture to fish farmer in Melaka.
  • Introducing aquaculture field to students.
