1. Cytotoxicity Test Cytotoxicity test is widely used to screen for cytotoxicity effect of any interest test items on mammalian cell. Preliminary dose screening for cytotoxicity is required before further toxicology assessment could be carried out. Test Method
2. Bacterial Reverse Mutation Test / Ames Test Bacterial reverse mutation test (OECD 471) also known as Ames test is used to detect point mutations induced by test items. The principle of this test is that it detects mutations which revert mutations present in the bacteria strains and restore the functional capability of the bacteria to synthesize an essential amino acid. The revertant bacteria are detected by their ability to grow in the absence of the amino acid require by the strain.
3. In Vitro Mammalian Cell Gene Mutation Test In vitro mammalian cell gene mutation test (OECD 476) is used to detect gene mutations induced by test items in mammalian system. The principle of this test is that it detects mutations present in the cells by determining their ability to grow in selective medium. Test Method Hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyl transferase (HPRT) Gene Mutation Test
4. In Vitro Mammalian Cell Micronucleus Test In Vitro Mammalian Cell Micronucleus Test (OECD 487) is used to detect micronuclei (MN) in the cytoplasm of interphase cells. The test detects the activity of clastogenic and aneugenic test items in cells that have undergone cell division during or after exposure to the test substance.
Alkaline Comet Assay is used to detect DNA damage at the level of individual eukaryotic cell. The principle of this test is to detect DNA single strand breaks and cross linking, with the single cell approach typical af cytogenetic assays. Study Design
